The development of the Stockport LSCB Compact was critical to our successful transition from ACPC to LSCB. A compact is intended to set out the principles and undertakings that underpin partnership working and the process of producing the compact is as important as the final document. It is about building a strong working relationship involving mutual advantage and using the process to establish a shared vision. Stockport developed their compact in this way and used a small multi-agency group to write it in consultation with all the organizations involved. The result was a compact that is fully owned by everyone.
We also developed a young peoples' version and consulted young people about Safeguarding and the Board. They had clear views about what young people needed which are reflected in the Young Peoples' Compact.
The Compact includes individual roles and responsibilities of LSCB members which were agreed in order to be clear about the expectations the Board had of each representative.
